Montaren St Mediers:

Landscape Montaren & Saint Médiers is typical of Languedoc scrublands. The Mediterranean climate has Beauties (brightness, smooth stones) and excesses (drought, violence Mistral, storms of late summer). One of the charms of this large town of Uzes is in these valleys contrasts between cultures and delivered to the scrub tops and sometimes reforested. What to see & Montaren Saint Médiers The strong Park at the cemetery, rue des Acacias. This is the old fortified village. It is organized around two poles - the north, around the Saracen Tower (probably the oldest tower Montaren), simple dungeon surrounded by a court. On the claims attached to the entire network of underground passages in which the village is built. - In the South, the castle (not open) austere fortress when it arrives in the village, the castle became mansion when approaching the Plain, the place that limit the south and east . Always shared among many co-lords of the village, the castle and its outbuildings have indeed been reworked throughout the centuries and its support of the town walls were decorated with balustrades and terraces. The restoration of the tower made in the nineteenth century, gives him a little, but look great. As for the plain, it is, at least since the eighteenth century a place for walking, strolling. It also plays bowls. Under the plain are the remains of the old oven, become communal oven in the French Revolution. The streets are very picturesque Fort to go, arches, pigeon houses, facades mullioned windows. Nothing remains of the old ramparts if the passage in which Barry was dug garages. Once it was planted mulberry and riddled with manure pits. The village streets Along the streets of the village we find the stone benches, many wells, into the '50s fueled the village drinking water. They are located on the site of the Plan, the role of the Church, the Town Hall Square, rue du Puits Venden and deadlock of Jonquette, rue des Acacias. The gardens Located near the ancient temple (rue des Jardins), surrounded by dry stone walls, they are under renovation and planning to initiate a dynamic association. The Carcarie This is the hill overlooking the village to the north and west. It is reached by taking the road of Saint Médiers. A ramp allows left to win the fitness trail built under the pines. This is a great sporty drive or trails that can see the panorama of cultures and scrubland surrounding the village. We see up Ventoux east, south Uzes. Returning it dominates Montaren from the old windmill. This is where we best understand the layout of the village. Tables and benches can relax and picnic. A small rocky path leads down to the parking lot. Saint Médiers In 1814, the village of Saint Médiers was attached to the Common Montaren. This village, which is reached after a journey of 2 km in the vineyards stands proudly above the plain.
